she works sometimes as a nanny and plays at the subways stations for spare change, and then one day someone came and offered a gig venue and then she went. she sang, sang, sang folkish foolish music realizing nothing was really new and nothing was really true, plus she had to put up with drunk middle-aged men who never appreciated her being there. but then she made friends with the guy who flipped hamburgers there couple hours before the diner turned into pub. one night he gave up an audiction for the casting of ROCK N ROLL at the only theatre in town - knowing the only actors in town would do well without him - and stayed to watch her perform. he was not an employee at that point, much less drunken middle-aged man.
but this is not a story about a love affair between artists, since he wasn't really an actor, he just flipped burgers and she wasn't a singer more than she was a sitter. either way, there was no love connection between them, and no, he wasn't gay just because he wanted to be an actor. actually he wanted to be one just as much as she wanted to pursue singing. she never wrote her own material but one night they got out of the pub and just got stinking drunk and they made up a comedy musical song.
